If there are still any active members on this forum, I'd love to know if anyone has read Rommany by Florence Hurd. Â I recently found a copy and didn't realize it was a 400-page book. Â I've read other (shorter) novels by Hurd and enjoyed them, so I'll give it a try regardless.
Never seen it but what a nice cover.

Read it years ago, loved it -
BUT "Legacy" by Florence Hurd was her BEST work -
AND 'House on Russian Hill' was another great one.
But I have to say that one of the best gothics I have
ever read (and Florence Hurd is one of my all-time faves,
and I'm not trying to take anything away from her)
is "The Listening House" by Mabel Seeley -
read it, you'll LOVE it!
Creepy house full of strange tenants, along with an even
creepier landlady -
AND "No. 9 Belmont Square" by Margaret Erskine is
another creepy house full of odd goings-on.

Florence Hurd is my favorite gothic romance author and Rommany is my favorite gothic romance book. I have read it over half a dozen times. I've read others that stand out as favorites such as Legacy and The House on Russian Hill, but Rommany is her crowning glory, in my opinion. You should definitely give it a read!!
