Ruby by Virginia Andrews - romanticdress - 09-12-2009

Set in early 1960´s, Ruby is a story of titular young girl and her soapy adventures against the romanticized backdrop of Louisiana bayou and New Orleans.
Good: The Gothic touches are quite effective ("mysterious" bayou, old beautifully dressed mansion, incest, etc.).
Bad: Like Jackie Collins and Nora Roberts, Andrew Niederman (a man behind the pseudonym after real Virginia´s death) has always been as sleazy and trashy purveyour of "sexiness" as Ruby´s evil twin: characters are judged for their looks (read: sexual attractiveness) and all ugly, fat. etc characters are either evil or too disgusting to be treated decently.
Verdict: Reasonably entertaining reading.

Thank you for pointing out the ghostwriter's name. I have tried to search for it, but was unsuccessful.
