Opens it a little more, and his head pops out. Looks around for...them ...the unforgiving... whose anger he risks by merely opening the door.

Tip toes in, hunched over, eyes to the ground, hands nervously playing with the straps of his black straight jacket.

(runs back to the door, and slams it shut, echoes of footsteps heard running down the stone stairway.)
