Burning Queston: Russian Gothics?
#1
Hello All

im reading Anna Karenina at the moment, absolutely loving it, and im wondering if it's considered gothic? probably not, but im just curious. on that note, are there any russian gothic classics? it would be fun to track down the english translations!

Yours Faithfully

In fact, there is no definite russian classics authors which you can classify as Gothic like Radcliffe or Poe, because of many reasons. There are few classic novels and poetry which Goths prefer amongst others.
I think you would like to check this author, from russian poets he is the best by my personal opinion - his poetry is very uncommon and unique, many of his poetry can be classified as Gothic.

thank you very much for your suggestion! i only asked about Anna Karenina because the novel seemed to embody some of the characteristics of a gothic novel... i'm really enjoyining gumilyov's work! although i must say that google seems to be struggling with it beacuse it insists on typing gumilyev. i don't understand technology, but thank goodness for great poetry.
