Hey Gothic Fans
#1
Hi, I'm so glad I found you all. My name is Stephanie and I've been a fan of Gothic romance (I prefer them reeeeealllly light on the romance part) for jeeze, what something like thirty years.
I'm 45 now so it's been a while.
First ones I ever read were Phyllis A. Whitney and they were like candy books. I loved the suspense and the little twinge of the supernatural, but the settings were always gorgeous and you knew that nothing too bad would ever happen.

Eventually I discovered Barbara Michaels and there was no looking back.
I LOVE ghost stories and Barbara's were the best. The plots whizzed along.

I'm still a fan of the genre even though fewer and fewer people write in that style, even Michaels has, sadly, stopped to concentrate on her Elizabeth Peters output.
It's so hard to find good spooky reads that don't degenerate into tiresome gore/slasher garbage or on the other side of the coin, aren't little more than harlequin romances with a ghost or vampire in a prominent role.

I'm awfully glad to have found others who appreciate my favorite book genre.
