paigenumber Wrote:Are you planning to republish any of the old ones? I had thought about trying to contact some publishers to do so, but the expense might not be justified in their eyes. I wondered how much the Gothic fans are willing to pay for a good mass market paperback reprint of the old Gothics, complete with the classic covers. I would love to see the Gothics resurrected. Considering the number of books that were published, I don't think I've even read the "tip of the iceberg".
Hi Paige!
Well, you're right about the expense. We're a small (but growing) press but trying to acquire the rights to reprint and the rights for the original artwork would be out of our budget.
What I want to do is produce new stories that either reflect "classic" gothic romance (whatever that means) or modern versions drawing on those themes. But I still want the pulp fiction-like covers! LOL
I haven't read this genre in YEARS so I'm having to re-educate myself. I've been told that one of the major publishers tried to "revive" the genre a few years back but it didn't catch on. Regardless, gothic romance is one of the many genres I like to read so hopefully we'll get stories that fit.
