best books you ever read any genre
#11
My favorite book is my guilty pleasure. It's a Dutch retelling of the E.M. Hull's "The sheikh" by Liesbeth Haarman, called: "Mijn sheikh". I bought it when I was about 15 and it hasn't lost it's allure after more than 35 years. That was the time when I read Harlequin and Mills & Boon, books that don't appeal to me any longer. In fact the older I get the less I enjoy reading about love and romance. Perhaps because now I'm old enough to know better? Anyway, this sheikh-book lets me believe in the fairy-tale love story again. So I cherish it and read it every few years when I need some escapism.
