What happened to all the members?

This is more a question for the Admin, but can anyone explain why the membership on this forum dropped from almost a thousand (a few weeks ago) to just several hundred now? Was there some sort of mass exodus? Or were inactive members purged? I'm just curious.

Yes, well spotted! The last few months has seen an surge in spam-related automatic sign-ups, so we purged accounts with unconfirmed email addresses. This should not affect any genuine member accounts.
