I just finished Poe's "Landor's Cottage". While some of his short stories are masterpieces, I found this one to be a tough slog. It was only eight pages but took me weeks to get through because I had trouble motivating myself to continue. Five paragraphs in a sitting was the most I could manage. The adjectives prolix, verbose, and tedious come to mind. It's really more of a detailed verbal picture or exercise in graphic description than a story.
